Support from Every Angle: How Digital Academy of Florida Puts Connection First

At the Digital Academy of Florida (DAOF), connection is more than a concept—it’s a commitment. Whether it’s a student logging on for class, a parent learning to navigate our platforms, or a teacher checking in with a family, DAOF ensures that no one is ever alone in their learning journey.
“It is always centered around being connected, with the team, with the students, and with the families,” shares Middle School Principal Adam Marcum. This idea of connection weaves through every layer of DAOF’s community. Even in a virtual setting, DAOF builds relationships that are real, consistent, and deeply supportive.
From day one, students are embraced with a balance of structure and flexibility. Middle School Assistant Principal Jeff Mills explains, “They are doing a regular schedule; they aren’t in front of a screen for eight hours. It’s more involved and includes live sessions.” This balance allows students to stay engaged while avoiding burnout, and it provides time for them to explore their passions.
Elementary teacher Kira Chamberlain highlights how DAOF brings learning to life in each student’s unique home environment: “Some students take classes in the kitchen, so you are able to feel more connected to the student and their family.” With exploratory options, students aren’t just completing coursework; they’re discovering their interests and talents. “There is so much going on. Students can take exploratory classes like art, music, etc.” Perhaps most importantly, according to Chamberlain, DAOF surrounds families with unwavering support. “We are here to help you in every step of the process, from learning materials to the platforms. We are here for you.”
As Principal Marcum puts it simply: “We’ve got the learning part. We take care of the kids.” And at DAOF, that care is visible every day, in every message, every lesson, and every connection made along the way.
