Why One Family Chose Virtual Learning

When Leticia enrolled her children, Bruno (8th grade) and Lara (9th grade), at Digital Academy of Florida (DAOF) last year, she wasn’t sure what to expect. But after only a year, she says the switch to virtual learning has given her children the structure, communication, and peace of mind they were missing in traditional school.

When Leticia needed to switch schools mid-year, options were limited.

“I had an issue with a prior school, so I looked up schools where I could transfer my kids, but because the school year had already started, I wasn’t finding many open positions or options. I remembered a co-worker whose kids were in virtual school, and that gave me the idea.”

A quick online search led her to DAOF.

“I Googled ‘online schools in Florida’ and found Digital Academy. I had two or three options, but I chose DAOF – and I’m so thankful I did.”

Communication Makes All the Difference

For Leticia, the biggest change has been her ability to stay connected to her children’s education.

“Before, I didn’t know what they were doing. I didn’t know if they had homework or tests. There was no communication with teachers. Now, I can see their grades, I know what assignments they have, and I can help them if they struggle.”

She laughs about keeping their progress open on her computer during the day.

“I’ll have Zoom open, and behind that I’m checking their grades to make sure everything is done. It makes me feel comfortable knowing what’s going on.”

What’s Next

Now in their second year at DAOF, Leticia is still learning the ins and outs of the system, but she is confident she made the right choice.

“I’m so happy I made the decision for virtual school. For my kids’ education and for their well-being, it has been great.”
